2020 is here and Investors and buyers cannot seem to contain their excitement. Those who were impatiently eyeing empty parking lots, waiting for their pre-construction condos in Toronto to rise up into magnificent architectural wonders, will soon have a move-in ready condo. Since I have been thinking about buying a condo for quite some time now, I had all the new Toronto condos occupying in 2020 on my radar. Here are 5 that have caught my fancy, and for good reason!

Canvas Condos

Adding some much-needed inventory to Toronto’s East End are the ultra-modern boutique condos, snuggled between two subway stations along the Danforth. Even though the Canvas Condos were rumored to be move-in ready by the summers of 2019, they are now taking occupancy starting this month. Canvas Condos is one of the first in the interminable line of condo developments swarming Toronto’s East Danforth.

Designer suites enjoy a host of amenities, including a pet spa for your pooches, a fully equipped fitness center, a modern party room, and a splendid rooftop terrace. If you are an outdoorsy person, take a stroll in the neighborhood, surrounded by Toronto’s best ravines, hit the beaches in summer, or embark on one of the biking or walking trails to revel in Mother Nature.

While the rents seem reasonable as compared to downtown Toronto, the demand continues to soar ever higher. If you prefer modern living within your budget, keep your eyes open for rental suites as soon as Canvas Condos takes occupancy this very month.

Riverside Square

Located on the cusp of Riverside and Leslieville, Riverside Square’s five phase condo community has been quite popular for almost a year now, and the first two condos have already taken occupancy. With 15 Baseball Place and 25 Baseball Place already occupied, you can wait for 30 Baseball Place to begin occupancy in March 2020, just in time for summer. The great news is that that you can expect to see a huge pool lounge on the rooftop of 30 Baseball Place, with unobstructed views of the city. We can imagine how anxiously the residents of Riverside Square are awaiting that pool’s debut!

In addition, the Riverside Square development isn’t only adding to the condo and rental inventory, it will also bring retail, public spaces, and a small park to this area. With luxe amenities, such as guest suites, a party room, a fitness center and a rooftop pool and lounge, the new condos at Riverside Square will attract a lot of people seeking out untapped rental opportunities.

Platform Condos

The pre-construction sales of the Platform Condos in 2017 was a huge success and suites booked out like hot cakes, since investors were quick to capitalize on the dearth of condo inventory along the East End. This boutique residence, the brainchild of Kirkor Architects + Planners, currently has 92 condos to take occupancy in the spring of 2020. Even though the number of condos fall shy of only a 100, the suite sizes run the gamut from studios to three bedrooms plus dens. Residents will enjoy a host of amazing amenities, including a game room, a party room, a lounge with chef’s kitchen, a terrace with firepits and BBQs, and a well-equipped gym. If those are not enough for you, you can talk a quick walk over to the vibrant Danforth stretch nearby, and entertain your friends at one of the shops, pubs, or restaurants there. If you are looking for rental opportunities come spring, the Platform Condos should be high up on your list.

Harris Square Condos

The design expertise of Saucier + Perrotte Architects brings you the ultimate design forward residential development of the River City community, Harris Square. Developing alongside Lower River Street and Adelaide Street East, this boutique residence is promising to set a new standard for condo design in Toronto. Harris Square, named after the chic public square it faces, will be in the form of a series of gyrating pentagonal plates. The architectural design of the compound allows for terraces and balconies on most floors. The condo sizes vary from tiny 359 square foot studios to 1,780 square foot three bedroom plus dens. What we especially love about the Harris Square is that the building is in the vicinity of the future East Harbour development, translating into the fact that it can create a huge new transit hub and almost 50,000+ new jobs for Toronto’s east core.

The George Condos & Towns

Nestled in the trendy Leslieville, the intimate 8-storey boutique residence is named after the founder of this historic community and famed Toronto horticulturalist, George Leslie. The George Condos and Towns features 8 modern towns and a total of 83 units. Touted as the perfect fit for design-conscious urbanites, George redefines outdoor space with the “Urban Yards”; recessed, ultra-deep balconies ranging in sizes up to 10 feet deep and 30 feet wide, dramatically serving to expand the living spaces with ample space for a play area, plants, and patio furniture. If you have your heart set on the lovely Leslieville neighborhood, you better make haste when the George takes occupancy next summer.
